A group of up to 15 follows the old monks' paths past Ypapanti and the ruins of St Dimitrios. You enter Great Meteoron or Varlaam depending on the day. Hotel pickup and return in Kalabaka or Kastraki are included.

The walk begins at the foothills. It passes Ypapanti and the ruins before reaching Great Meteoron or Varlaam. The day of your hike decides which monastery you visit. A mountain guide and bottled water are included.

You enter one of the six working monasteries. Pay the entrance fee separately in cash. Exploring the interior is unguided.

Before you book

  • Book at least two adult tickets. Adult tickets start at age thirteen.
  • Child tickets start at six. The hike is not recommended for children under seven.
  • Be ready for hotel pickup fifteen minutes before departure.

  • Cover your shoulders for the monastery. Women need a skirt below the knee. Men need long trousers.
