Up to 20 people see all six monasteries before sunset. You go inside one or two. The route also includes the hermit caves and old Kalabaka's church.

Book this if a second monastery would be a bonus. Plan on one visit inside. The group takes up to 20 people. The route shows all six monasteries.

The minibus also stops at the Badovas hermit caves and old Kalabaka's Byzantine church. The day ends at a sunset viewpoint. Hotel transfers and a local guide are included. Monastery and church admission cost extra.

Bring €5 in cash for each monastery. Guiding inside the monasteries is excluded. Meals and soft drinks are extra. The tour runs in all weather.

Before you book

  • Hotel pickup covers Kalabaka and Kastraki. Give your hotel name when booking. Pickup time depends on your hotel.
  • November to February starts at 14:00. March starts at 15:00.
  • April and October start at 15:30. May and September start at 16:00.
  • June to August starts at 16:30. Mondays in those months start at 16:00.
  • Cover your shoulders. Women need a skirt below the knee. Men need long trousers.
  • Child tickets cover ages 4 to 12. Children need an accompanying adult.
  • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
  • Service animals allowed
  • Specialized infant seats are available
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Appropriate clothing for everyone is required to enter the monasteries. For ladies skirts by the knee or longer are required. No pants for ladies, no shorts, no sleeveless shirt. For men sleeveless clothing and shorts over the knee are prohibited.

    Visit the oldest monument of the area situated in the old city of Kalabaka. In the walls of this church for hundreds of years, marbles of an ancient temple were hidden. The marbles belonged to the temple of God Apollo. Nowadays that the plaster which covered them is removed you will be able to see God’s face represented as the Sun.
